Back on tap… – Blackpool Gazette

Lytham Back On TApTHEY’D call their next beer Lytham Phoenix if they could.
For family-owned Lytham Brewery is back up to full production following a devastating fire at its Lytham premises in May this year.
The brewery reopened in Lord Street, St Annes, and is now able to produce 12,318 pints per week, with production set to ramp up even further in the next few months. And top of the list is Lytham Lowther, brewed especially for Lytham Beer Festival, set to take place this weekend at Lowther Pavilion. Director Andrew Booker said: “There’s already a Phoenix brew out there so we can’t call one that” And the Phoenix that’s out there well, we are a quality brewery and we don’t want to dilute our brand!” Six fire crews from Wesham, South Shore, Lytham, StAnnes and Blackpool were needed to tackle the blaze, which saw the original brewery completely destroyed. Firefighters had tocontend with 30ft-high flames. Managing director – James said: “I can’t really remember much of that day. I remember talking to the fire officer but little else.”
Andrew added: “We weren’t even insured. But you’ve got two choices – walk away and give up or carry on fighting, and that’s what we did.”

Published on Friday 18 March 2011 11:12

The County Hotel in Lytham is gearing up for its second annual beer festival, which this time has a local focus.

In a bid to highlight the ales from brewers in the immediate area, as well as reduce the environmental impact of the brewing industry, the Church Road venue will be basing the event around the CAMRA LocAle initiative.

CAMRA, The Campaign for Real Ale, set up LocAle in 2007 to support locally-brewed real ales in an effort to meet growing consumer demand and become more aware of environmental issues.

So for this year’s beer festival, which takes place from Thursday, March 24 to Sunday, March 27, there will be at least 30 different beers from 22 breweries within 30 miles of the County Hotel in Lytham.

Beer at the double for port’s big bash – Blackpool Gazette

Posted by admin on December 17, 2010

BEER  drinkers will have extra reason to celebrate Fleetwood’s 175 anniversary next year – brewers are making TWO tipples to mark the occasion.

The Fuzzy Duck Brewery of Poulton and Lytham Brewery have agreed to produce different types of tipple to give a wide choice – and the public will have the chance to name one of the beers.

The Lytham effort is being backed by the local branch of the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) and they are inviting members of the public to suggest a fitting name for the drink which will launched at the Fleetwood Beer Festival in February.
